Our client, a leading global FMCG company, is seeking an experienced Senior Category & Consumer Insight Manager to provide thought leadership and actionable insights across its rapidly-growing International Markets division. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile business unit and make a significant impact on brand performance and consumer engagement.

POSITION OVERVIEW 📋

The Senior Category & Consumer Insight Manager will play a pivotal role in driving category & consumer-focused insights to support business goals across key international markets, including the Middle East, Nigeria, Poland, South Korea and Japan. 🌍🔬 The successful candidate will collaborate closely with local marketing teams to define research programs, analyse data from multiple sources, and translate insights into strategies that fuel growth and innovation. 💡📊

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

INSIGHT GENERATION & ANALYSIS 🔍📊

  • Collaborating with local market and global marketing teams to define and lead insight & research programmes and projects.
  • Analysing data from multiple sources and working with agency partners to provide fact based, objective presentations of data and insights and clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Diagnosing key business issues, and defining research objectives and briefs to support business and marketing decisions.
  • Working closely with agency partners, ensuring strong service levels, and reporting consistency across international markets to understand brand performance.

BUSINESS OBJECTIVES & ACTIVITY 🎯💼

  • Working as a key business partner to local market brand and commercial teams in conjunction with global head office teams, ensuring data, research and insights are central to decision making.
  • Using category thought leadership to win in-store, advising retailers how to drive growth, and translating shopper, retailer & category data into actionable insights and recommendations on Perfect Store, Product Range, Visibility and Promotional Strategy.
  • Working with local teams using insight to develop innovation & renovation pipelines, including concept, product and pack testing and identifying range gaps with practical recommendations.
  • Ensuring all marketing comms assets are proven and optimised with relevant consumer testing and performance tracking including MMM and Link Testing.

BUILDING A CATEGORY & CONSUMER ORIENTATION 🧭🔍

  • Creating a deep understanding of consumer behaviour & attitudes - generating insights and acting proactively as the voice of the consumer, inspire others to think consumer first.
  • Using insight to understand consumer segmentations and consumer targets, their lives, needs, voice aspirations, desires etc.
  • Leading the process to embed a world-class category & consumer insights capability into local marketing teams, working with agency partners and within the wider company insight community.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE 🏆👤

This is a highly-visible and newly created role, requiring a candidate with exceptional technical insight skills and commercial savvy, ideally gained within a leading FMCG or brand-driven company, quite likely with a solid agency training too. You may also have worked in an insight-focused consultancy role.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record of leading-edge FMCG category and consumer insight management.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to extract maximum value from different data sources.
  • Exceptional grasp of data, consumer and category research methods, ad-hoc and continuous, qual and quant.
  • Significant insights experience working with multiple international markets, developed and developing.
  • Track record of building robust business partnerships, managing agencies and influencing internal stakeholders.
  • Strong story-telling and presentation skills, able to present transformational consumer/shopper insights.
  • Collaborative, open mindset, able to work closely with marketing and commercial teams.
  • Adaptable, action-oriented approach, creative thinking, and optimistic can-do attitude.
